Thinking about chartering a yacht in Miami?

Then you’re in the right place.

In this section we will detail the types of charters available in Miami to help you make the most of your Miami yacht charter experience.

Single Day

Miami Yacht Charter

Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, hosting a bachelor/ bachelorette party or simply wanting to relax and unplug along the Biscayne Bay waters, a day yacht charter in Miami will surely be a memorable experience.

Miami offers two types of day charters: a half day (4 hours), and a full day (8 hours).

A half day charter would be perfect for those who wish to host an elegant gathering or entertain clients. While a full day charter is recommended for those who wish to spend the day on the water with family and friends enjoying a nice sunset, dropping anchor at one of the sandbars or docking up next to some of the waterside restaurants for a meal.

Multi-day

Term Charters

A day charter in Miami will always prove to be a luxurious and pleasurable experience. But, the true allure of chartering in Miami is its proximity to The Bahamas, The Florida Keys and even Cuba. On a term charter you will be able to explore beyond Miami’s amazing coastline, sail to hidden beaches and take full advantage of the yacht’s amazing water toys.

Miami Term Charters to Bimini

Located just a few hours from Miami by water, Bimini is ideal for a weekend getaway. Despite being only 7 miles long, the islands are a haven for divers and snorkelers looking to get up close to dolphins, underwater shipwrecks and more.

Along with being known for its laid back lifestyle, white sandy beaches and beautiful nature trails, Bimini also possesses a rich culture and history. Bimini is home to many landmarks accessible only by boat. One such example would be Bimini Road, an underwater rock formation that is believed to be hundreds of years old.

Bimini is also home to world famous myths, such as Ponce de Leon’s Fountain of Youth. Legends talk about a fountain that supposedly restores the youth of anyone who drinks or bathes in its waters. Presently, it is a pool that locals refer to as the Healing Hole for it pushes out cool, fresh water during outgoing tides. The fountain is well worth a visit, and who knows, maybe you will leave behind a year or two?

Adding to Bimini’s mystical aura is its famous “ghost ship”, the SS Sapona shipwreck. If you are up to the adventure, snorkel in and around the ship amongst the hundreds of tropical fish species that it currently harbors.

Bimini is also known as a key destination for sport fishing and is known as the Sport Fishing Capital of the World. In fact, her main marina is named Big Game as a tribute to this title.

Bimini’s reputation for spectacular sport fishing stems from the fact that it sits on the edge of a warm stream of tropical current that rushes from the Gulf Stream north past The Bahamas. The stream acts as a belt in which record size fish have been caught – over 50 record-setting catches have occurred within these waters.

If natural beauty and local culture were not enough, you cannot go to Bimini and not immerse your palate into the local delicacy – the conch salad. Once you savor the white, tasty conch meat over a plate of fresh veggies, hot peppers, and citrus you will understand why this is perhaps the most quintessential dish in the Bahamas. Head over to Stuart’s Conch Stand or Joe’s Conch Shack to taste this Bahamian delight.

Whether you choose to explore Bimini with family and friends or as a couple, you will want to stop by Resorts World Bimini to try your luck at their casino, or simply drop anchor and tender into their beach club. Either way, you will always leave Bimini wanting more. So sail up to the Big Game Marina and adventure yourself on and around the mystical Caribben islands.

Miami Term Charters to the Bahamas

Home to 700 gorgeous islands and cays, the Bahamas has no shortage of tropical crystal-clear blue waters and secluded beaches to explore. Aside from the short Bimini trip, the usual travel time from Miami to Nassau or the Exumas is around 8-9 hours. This time easily flies by as you socialize with your guests, enjoy a chef-cooked meal, or simply relax and lounge aboard your private yacht.

With a longer travel time to and from The Bahamas, we highly recommend chartering for at least a week so can fully enjoy your time and appreciate all this natural paradise has to offer.

Each island in the Bahamas is unique, with its own set of attractions and qualities. It is virtually impossible to explore all the islands in a week, so we have put together a list of recommendations of some of the islands we believe you should not miss out on.

Please note that your YachtLife charter specialist will be able to assist in planning your bespoke Bahamas itinerary, so the below should be considered inspiration for your Bahamas itinerary. Additionally, we have created a 7-day Bahamas itinerary available here.

New Providence

New Providence island is home to Nassau, the capital and largest city of the Bahamas. Nassau is one of the most popular destinations in the Bahamas due to its highly developed tourist infrastructure and international airport.

Just off the main island of New Providence is Paradise Island with its white sand beaches and world-famous Atlantis resort. Here you can spend the day lounging at Cabbage Beach, exploring the extensive marine life or enjoying yourself at the Aquaventure water park. By night, try your luck at the Atlantis Casino, or simply savour a meal at one of the world-class restaurants on the Island.

If you are looking for peace and quiet, sail over to Rose Island for a day amongst secluded coves and sprawling stretches of uninhabited beach. Have your crew set up a picnic lunch on Rose Island and spend the afternoon snorkeling in the turquoise blue waters whilst admiring the sting rays and exotic fishes.

Eleuthera + Harbour Island

Next on our list of places to visit in the Bahamas is Eleuthera and Harbour Island. Spend the day cruising the coast of Eleuthera, admiring its pristine pink sand beaches, endless pineapple fields and exploring the hidden cays and secluded swimming areas. Sail to Surfer’s Beach for big waves, or cruise to the calm, shallow waters of Ten Bay Beach for a peaceful day on the water. Additionally, visit Ocean Hole, an inland swimming spot with tropical fish and sea turtles.

In the afternoon, pay a visit to colorful Dunmore Town, located on Harbour Island, the original capital of The Bahamas and currently the country’s second largest city.

The Exumas

With sapphire-blue waters everywhere, The Exumas are an exotic collection of 100+ private islands and cays and the most popular destination in The Bahamas for a yacht charter. Footprint-free beaches, ultra-exclusive resorts, and islands fit for celebrities make this tropical paradise an absolute gem. In the Exumas, nature outnumbers men; coastlines remain flawless; and private homes play host to some of the world’s most famous celebrities and parties.

A few of our favorite destinations in all the Exumas include:

The Abaco Islands

The Abaco Islands are home to a 120-mile long chain of islands that feature small towns/villages renowned for their breath-taking turquoise waters and warm breezes – a true yachting paradise. Embarking from Palm Beach, the Abacos are a short 1-2 hour cruise and usually the first point of interest in a Bahamas charter.

Spend the day in the water diving in the Pelican Cays Land or the Sea Park with its underwater caves and colorful coral reefs. Furthermore, you can sail to the northwestern part of the island to go turtle, eagle ray and shark watching at Walker’s Cay National Park.

The Abaco Islands offer more than simply natural wonders – you will find championship level golf courses on Treasure Cay, beautiful towns on Elbow Cays and Green Turtle Cay, and an endless nightlife throughout the archipelago.
