Washington, DC, the capital of the United States, was founded after the American Revolution as the homeplace for the newly established government and named after one of the Founding Fathers and first president of the US, George Washington. Washington is also home to iconic museums and performing venues such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
